During our ninth bargaining session with the State on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, the State finally began to respond to our economic proposals.
They presented a counter proposal for a general salary increase (GSI) of 5% on July 1, 2016; 2% on July 1, 2017; and 1.9% on July 1, 2018. The State also presented a non-economic proposal on duration for a 3 year contract.
The team responded to the State’s inadequate GSI by telling them that, “while it’s nice that we finally got something back from you, it’s miles from where we need to end up.”
The Union’s team discussed with the State the rising Regional Transit costs and the need to raise the cap to cover these increases. We will be making a proposal to address this at our next session.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
