I have been recognized by my Property Management Company two times for exceptional service to tenants and once for assistance with sale of a building.
What is the best thing about your Apprenticeship experience?
The combination of hands on experience, book theory taught in class and story sharing amongst Apprentices, teachers and speakers. All of these sources of knowledge better prepare the Apprentice for the challenges of our Industry.
What has this apprenticeship meant to you? Your family?
Having the opportunity to become an Apprentice has been a recognition of my Employers faith in my abilities to best represent the Owner to the Tenant. To my family it has meant that I have a stable job that I enjoy going to everyday and while there are dangers in my job, I have received the best training that will keep myself and everyone at my work place safe.
Advice for new Apprentices.
Show up everyday and be the best Apprentice you can be, this opportunity to learn will be over far sooner than you can know and take advantage of the free classes you can take at LATTC and the Union Seminars/Classes.
Advice for those considering Apprenticeship.
Having an Apprentice on a property is a huge investment with an even bigger return on investment for the property owner. The owner is paying less for an Engineer who will, upon turning out four years later, have an immense knowledge of your facility and its operations.

Being an Apprentice in the IUOE has been an immense blessing both in personal enrichment and professional sense because I know how much of an asset I am to my employer. Their confidence in my ability to address any issue a tenant may have grows my sense of accomplishment every day I’m on the property.
